Typical applications and uses

Asset tracking For monitoring the identity of assets such as test equipment, computers, office furniture. Add software to upload asset register, scan office to identify items in rooms as listed in asset register, download to host system to update asset register.RFIDasset(tm) Sports timing For timing marathon races, road running races, mountain bike races, go kart races, MotoX races. Use RFID system to identify the competitors and link to a PC to provide a complete timing system with database management.White paper on applying UHF RFID to timing applications
Laptop tracking Tired of those small laptops being illegally removed from your offices and reported as lost? Use RFID system to detect laptop passing through access doorways and stop removal.Notetrack(tm) Notebarrier(tm) Logistics With tags attached to the parcels/boxes of goods being transported through your warehouse/storage facility, a computer system can process data from the reader to quickly and automatically identify goods passing past the scanner to automate the process of tracking packages.
Pallets With tags attached to the pallets on which goods are being stored and transported, a system of automatically tracking the progress of consignments can be built using transponder tags that can be reused. Trees Using RFID tags items in traditionally difficult situations for labelling can now be accurately tagged and monitored. An example is the tagging of individual trees in a forest so that they can be individually tracked as assets in an asset register
Toll Roads Transponders attached to the windscreen of a car can be read at distances as far as 15 meters and at speeds up to 200kph. This allows a computer system to identify vehicles using certain roads or allow vehicle access through control booms. Access control Transponders as part of personal access badges, or attached to vehicles, can form the core of an automated access control system
Wild animal monitoring Transponders attached to wild animals such as Elk, Rhinos and the like, allow zoologist to remotely monitor the migration paths of the animal with minimal humal intervention Productivity enhancement Transponders attached to objects under constructions (motor vehicles for example) allow computers to monitor and measure the productivity of each stage in the manufacturing process.
Library books Transponders attached to library books allow an automated control system for the flow of the books and the finding of the manuscripts to be implimented in a library Tyres Transponders inserted into the walls of tyres allow the identitiy of the tyre to be determined remotely via a computer, asssiting in the delivery logistics of the tyres, and to verify that tyres have not been swopped/stolen on hired vehicles.
Cattle Particularly with the appearance of deseases such as BSE, it is becoming a requirement that all cattle reared for the human food chain are to be tagged from birth to death to enable computer tracking of the geographical history of the animal Proof of identity Transponders embedded in the fibreglass mouldings of capital assets such as boats, yachts, vehicles, and aircraft allow ownership to be proven in the event of the item being stolen and relabelled to hide its true identity.
Customs locking Transponders that are destroyed when tampered with can be used as anti-tamper seals on monitored goods, such as shipping containers, money, gold and diamond transit cases. This allows the integrity to be checked remotely often and identitfy the stage in transport should there be any tampering with the products. EPC Although the eventual product of the RFID system will be the automation of the grocery retail chain, and although RFID Technology transponders can hold data that is compatible with the proposed EPC system, RFID Technologies are very environmentally friendly causing minimal interference with other users and at this time are not compatible with the high interference EPC tags proposed.
